The first two digits of the 15-digit alphanumeric GSTIN number, which taxpayers obtain upon successful registration, are the GST state code.This code is unique to each Indian state and stands in for it.
When registering a business for GST, you will be given a temporary state code that is valid for 7 days. After that, you will receive a permanent state code. Your business will benefit from the GST state code because it will be visible on all invoices you receive and submit.
