Dr. B. M. Hegde is a cardiologist, an author, and a professor of medicine. From 1999 to 2003, he was the Vice Chancellor of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. In 2010, he got the Padma Bhushan award, and in 2021, he got the Padma Vibhushan award. He has been in favor of both homeopathy and quantum medicine.

He was born in the Indian city of Udupi on August 18, 1938. In 1961, he got his MBBS from the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal. The same college gave him his MD in cardiology in 1964. He was a member of both the American College of Cardiology and the Royal College of Physicians in London.

In 1967, Hegde began working as a Professor of Medicine at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal. From 1999 to 2003, he was the Vice Chancellor of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. He leads the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Mangalore. He started a medical magazine called magazine of the Science of Healing Outcomes and is the editor-in-chief of that publication. Up until 2016, he was a member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences. B.M. Hegde is on the selection committee for the Bhagwan Mahaveer Awards and Mahaveer Awards.

Hegde has written a number of books about medical ethics and practice. He has also won the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and the Horatio Alger Award, among others.

Hegde strongly supports preventive medicine and has written a lot about it. He is also in favor of homeopathy, yoga, and other forms of alternative treatment. Hegde is a controversial person, and some people don’t agree with his ideas. But he is still a well-known person in India, and his work has influenced many people.
